Course: Facilitated Movement for Dogs Part 1 Instructor: Theresa Gagnon, CVT, BS, LMT Dates: 04/04/09 - 04/05/09 Times: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Cost: $375.00 Register now
Description: Facilitated Movement tm is a healing modality that encompasses and integrates several healing entities. The basis for this work is garnered from Brain Therapy developed by Dr. Barry R. Gillespie. Brain Therapy joins craniosacral therapy with TMJ-dental and fascial bodywork techniques to allow the brain to move in its normal inherent motion. Facilitated Movement integrates craniosacral therapy, fascial techniques, TMJ-dental, energy work and massage. It is a combination of modalities that will facilitate the body to heal itself by initiating movement and thereby release of restrictions in the fascial tissue.
In part 1, healing for the craniosacral system is addressed. The craniosacral system includes the bones of the skull and vertebrae, the brain and spinal cord, the cranial and spinal nerves, the meninges or connective tissue coverings and the cerebrospinal fluid. Restriction in the fascia or connective tissue can place strain on the craniosacral system resulting in impingement of cranial or spinal nerves or decreased flow of cerebrospinal fluid. Facilitated Movement helps to release the restrictions creating balance in the tissues.
Sign up for both part 1 and part 2 and receive a $50 discount on the total tuition, $700 for both.
Course: Facilitated Movement for Dogs Part 2 Instructor: Theresa Gagnon, CVT, BS, LMT Dates: 06/06/09 - 06/07/09 Times: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Cost: $375.00 Register now

In part 2, healing for the rest of the body is addressed. Restrictions of the fascia can have wide ranging effects throughout the body. Fascia or connective tissue is an interconnected web that attaches the skin to underlying layers, covers every muscle and organ, lines every body cavity, and creates tendons and ligaments. Nerves and blood vessels travel through the fascial web to innervate the body and transfuse it with blood. Due to the interconnectedness of the fascia, restrictions of the fascia in one area of the body will create a tightness that will exert a pull on other areas. Facilitated Movement helps to release the restrictions in the fascia and restore balance to the body.
